AustraLearn and University of Tasmania
Australia
- Tasmania:
Hobart,
Launceston
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: February and /or July
Description:
Founded in 1890 the University of Tasmania is one of the four original 'sandstone' universities of Australia and has a century-long tradition of excellence. A record of academic achievement and scholarly leadership, combined with the advantages of being the only university in the island state of Tasmania, leave it well placed to carry forward established traditions of excellence into the twenty-first century. Comprehensive student support services, small, personalized classes and low accommodation costs single the University of Tasmania out for special attention. The University of Tasmania offers most subjects in the arts, sciences and professions. The University has two campuses, one set in the stunningly beautiful city of Hobart in the south of the state and the other in the vibrant regional city of Launceston in the north. Tasmania is the island state of Australia with a clean, green environment and a friendly ambience. The scenery is stunningly beautiful and includes mountain wilderness, miles of unspoiled beaches, temperate rainforest and big seas. Tasmanians take the time to enjoy the environment around them and most lead active outdoor lifestyles. People also enjoy taking the time to stop and talk - and to find out where visitors are actually from.
Highlights:
The University of Tasmania will assist study abroad students in meeting local students and making the most of their vacation and weekend time. Possibilities include bushwalking and camping in spectacular mountain national parks, climbing peaks, rafting whitewater rivers (from beginners to the seriously insane),stargazing (the stars have to be seen to be believed) and searching for nocturnal wildlife like possums, owls, Tassie devils and wallabies, mainland trips to Uluru (Ayers Rock) or the Barrier Reef, and whatever else takes our students' interest. There is a wide variety of sporting and social clubs which cater to most interests, from bushwalking to soccer and everything in between.
