Highlights:
There's something for everyone in Sydney, whether it be hitting the suburban beaches, the many water activities on the harbour, rivers and waterways, a visit to the Opera House, a stroll along the Rocks, or a trip to the Blue Mountains, the ski fields, or the magnificent coastal areas north and south of the city. There is ample opportunity to explore historical and cultural sites and attend cultural and sporting events. A visit to the 2001 Olympic Stadium is a must. Weekend trips to Canberra, Melbourne or Brisbane are also recommended in order to sample the diversity of this country. Macquarie University has developed special programs for study abroad students. These include: - Study Abroad Certificates where students have the opportunity to complete an official award of the University while participating in the Study Abroad Program. - Study abroad and exchange students have the option of undertaking an internship during their studies in Sydney. The internships provide an opportunity to gain valuable work experience within a relevant organization while completing their studies. - Macquarie University offers students the opportunity to volunteer while they are studying in Australia. As an international student, volunteers have the opportunity to meet and working alongside "real" Australians. Students can volunteer every week or can choose to volunteer for special events during the semester. - Based on demand, several weekend trips will be offered during each semester, taking in the breathtaking wonder of the Australian coastline, landscape and mountains. Experienced providers will take you away from it all, and then bring you back safely. Regular social events are also offered including harbor cruises, sporting matches, movie nights and parties.
