Description:
Griffith University is a Government funded multi-campus university with an international reputation for teaching and research. It is a dynamic institution developing courses which equip graduates with the skills and knowledge needed to meet the challenges that today's internationalized world brings in industry, business, government or academic research. Griffith is an attractive study environment for North American students and one in which they generally flourish. Although in many respects it is a large institution, within each campus a real sense of community is established. Griffith is one of the best located universities in Australia: four of the University's six campuses are within 10 minutes of the center of Brisbane City while another is located within minutes of the Gold Coast and its world famous surfing beaches. Queensland has a perfect climate of mild winters and warm summers; it has beautiful forests and coral reefs; and it is safe and secure with a clean environment. There are many recreational activities in Queensland. At the beaches there is swimming, snorkeling and diving. Brisbane and the Gold Coast offer many markets for browsing and shopping. There are forests for walking and camping, and mountains for climbing.
Highlights:
The Griffith University International Student Association (ISA) is funded by the University and regularly provides excursions and activities for students at greatly subsidized cost. The University provides a dynamic sport and recreation service that includes adventure programs, recreation activities, short courses, adventure holidays and University sport. Choices range from the University Volleyball Team to the Scuba Diving Club to a ski trip or the chance to compete in the National University Games. Learn to surf with the Boardriders Club, take a stroll through the regions rainforest with the Bushwalking Society or get your diving certificate with the Diving Club. Whatever your interest, Griffith has over 100 clubs to get you out and about to enjoy the active Aussie lifestyle. The Gold Coast Student Guild's new entertainment facility located on campus regularly hosts top local bands and is the social center for local and international students alike. Study Abroad students have the opportunity to participate in organized trips to explore some of the surrounding areas to campus such as Byron Bay and Stradbroke Island.
