Since 1950, IES has been building quality study abroad programs and introducing U.S. students to new places, studies, and ways of thinking. A non-profit educational organization, IES offers high academic standards and extensive financial aid in almost 30 programs throughout the world. IES Amsterdam offers three different academic options for students to choose from including the IES University of Amsterdam Program (with a Field Experience component), fine arts study at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie, or music study at the Amsterdam School of Music. The IES program is located on the University's campus on Prins Hendrikskade, a short walking distance from Central Station. Students have access to university libraries, computer rooms, student restaurants and canteens as well as memberships in student clubs and sport teams. Fine arts students enrolled at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie will receive personalized instruction in fine and applied arts and in art theory. Students interested in music study can enroll in courses at the Amsterdam School of Music. Amsterdam and the Netherlands offer unique opportunities for field study in the arts, business, environmental studies, international law, social welfare, and in the media. Students can pursue their individual interests through service learning or field placements.
