Host Institution: The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is one of Australia's oldest and most respected universities, and is particularly well known for science and technology. The University's continued accomplishments has placed it in the top rank of Australian research universities. Courses: Students select 4 courses (worth 4 credits each) and enroll directly in UTAS classes. Professional visits, internship placement and supervision, and a 10-day excursion to Sydney and Melbourne are included. Internships are highly recommended by KEI staff. Location: Tasmania's unspoiled natural beauty and high quality of life draws a rich and active artistic and cultural community. UTAS is located in the center of Hobart the beautiful, safe, and peaceful capital of Tasmania, Australia's island state. Hobart is also the second oldest city in Australia (after Sydney), full of history. The UTAS campus offers a large array of facilities. Tasmania is also well known for its art and music festivals, fine culinary offerings and vineyards, and receives accolades as the best island in the South Pacific. Hobart is cosmopolitan with numerous attractions, including concert halls, theaters, museums, and excellent restaurants. One-fifth of the island of Tasmania is set aside as a World Heritage Area. This unique location has fauna and flora found nowhere else on the planet.
