Description:
This program allows allows students to concentrate their studies in the sciences (zoology, botany, ecology, marine biology, environment, geology, conservation, agriculture, biodiversity, horticulture, wildlife management, biosynthesis, plant science, aquaculture, Antarctic climate, geography, mineral exploration, forestry, algology, etc.) and other subjects offered by the Faculty of Science. Research positions are available for qualified students. Students can earn up to 16 credits per semester, directly enrolling in University of Tasmania courses.

Host Institution: The University of Tasmania (UTAS) is one of Australia's oldest and most respected universities, and is particularly well known for science. The University's continued an accomplishments has placed it in the top rank of Australian research universities. Courses: Students select 4 courses (worth 4 credits each) and enroll directly in UTAS classes; 3 "EES" core courses are required. Internship placement and supervision, and a 10-day excursion to Sydney and Melbourne are included. Location: Tasmania's unspoiled natural beauty and high quality of life draws a rich artistic, cultural, and outdoorsy community. It is a unique and superb location in which to be engaged in environmental and ecological studies. One-fifth of the island of Tasmania is set aside as a World Heritage Area. This unique location has fauna and flora found nowhere else on the planet. UTAS is located in the center of Hobart the beautiful, safe, and peaceful capital of Tasmania, Australia's island state. Hobart is also the second oldest city in Australia (after Sydney), full of history and well known for its art and music festivals, fine culinary offerings and vineyards. Tasmania regularly receives accolades as the best island in the South Pacific. Hobart is a cosmopolitan city with a small-town feel, with numerous attractions, including concert halls, theaters, museums, and excellent restaurants.
