Students at all levels of Spanish are eligible to study with ISA in Valencia. Program participants will study at the University of Valencia, which is accredited and issues all transcripts. Summer, Semester, and Year programs are available. Valencia (pop. 750,000), Spain's third-largest city, is located on the Mediterranean Coast and is a city full of historical importance and modern energy. Students will feel transported back to medieval times when they venture into the 'gothic quarters' of Valencia. There they will find tree-lined, cobblestone streets and stunning architecture such as the Cathedral, located in the Plaza de la Reina. Although Valencia has a rich historic district, the city is often referred to as one of Spain's more modern cities. Students will be captivated with the 'City of Arts and Sciences', a masterpiece of modern day construction featuring attractions such as the Planetarium and el Palacio de las Artes which offers music, theatre, and opera performances in an open-air auditorium. Daytime activities include seeing bullfights in the Plaza de Toros, shopping in the Plaza del Mercado, visiting the botanical gardens of Jardines de Real, and enjoying the beautiful beaches of Valencia. Celebrations and festivals throughout the year provide an excellent opportunity for students to witness Spanish character at its best.
