ISA in Salamanca

  Spain
  • Salamanca:
  • Salamanca

Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer, Winter

Description: ISA programs in Salamanca, Spain, are all-inclusive (with the exception of airfare). The Universidad de Salamanca is an accredited university and issues all transcripts. Experience the thrill of living abroad in one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. Various programs are offered with the opportunity to earn college credit. Programs include Spanish Language and Culture, Hispanic Studies, and Individualized Studies with Spaniards.

Salamanca (180,000), home to the oldest and most prestigious university in Spain, is the ideal setting for students to learn Spanish while acquainting themselves with Spanish culture and lifestyle. The town is situated on the bank of the Tormes River that slowly flows past. Originally a fortified Roman camp, Salamanca has a rich history characterized by the Christian influence after the Moors were forced out in the 12th century.

The entire university area of Salamanca is built out of sandstone that changes color throughout the day according to the angle at which the sunlight hits the facades. Outside of class, students will find themselves enjoying the Plaza Mayor, meeting friends at one of the many cafes, and attending cultural activities around town. Salamanca is also only a three hour bus-ride from Madrid, making it easy to travel to other cities in Spain and even other countries in Europe!
