ISA programs in Madrid, Spain, are all-inclusive (with the exception of airfare). Program participants will study at either the Universidad Complutense de Madrid or the Universidad Antonio de Nebrija, both of which are accredited and issue all transcripts. Various programs are offered for students at all levels of Spanish with the opportunity to gain college credit. Programs include Spanish Language and Culture, Hispanic Studies, Studies with Spaniards, and Spanish Language and Electives. Madrid (pop. 4 million) covers approximately 375 square miles. This booming city, the capital of Spain, incorporates a unique blend of old and new, of vibrancy and quaintness. Although in parts of the city there are modern neighborhoods filled with high-rise apartments and bustling commercial areas, there are also traditional landscapes which contain picturesque barrios. Madrid offers a myriad of activities with its impressive universities, royal palaces, world-class art museums, small cafes, and a great nightlife. Students can spend time in the famous Plaza Mayor which has a wild history of bullfights, executions of heretics during the Inquisition, and the crowning of several kings. Today the Plaza is a popular spot for Spaniards and visitors to convene, shop, mingle, and dine among buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries. Madrid's cultural diversity, world-famous art and architecture, and dynamic nightlife are sure to satisfy students of all types!
Highlights:
* Tuition: Includes all tuition at the host university. All classes are taught by faculty from the host university. * Academic Credits: Please refer to the ISA website for detailed credit information. * Resident Directors: ISA Resident Directors are available 24 hours a day to assist students with all aspects of their study abroad experience. * Tutoring: Students have the opportunity to receive up to 2 hours of language tutoring each weekday. * Excursions: Please see the ISA website for a complete list of excursions. Ground transportation and entrance fees are included on all excursions. Hotel accommodations and breakfast are included on all overnight excursions. * Room and Board: The family homestays include three meals a day (excluding ISA excursion days) for the duration of the program. The homestays also include laundry service once a week. Students not wishing to live with a host family are welcome to set up their own housing arrangements. * On-site ISA office: The ISA office, conveniently located in the city, offers student computers with internet access, language resources, travel information, and more. * Airport Reception: Provided to and from the airport for students who arrive and/or depart during the specified times. * Medical Insurance: Medical insurance is provided for the official period of the program. Medical insurance extensions are available for an additional cost. * Cultural Activities: ISA Resident Directors will arrange cultural activities throughout the program.
