The Marine Science Study Abroad program at Murdoch University is one of the best in Australia, and the location -- outside the sun-drenched coastal city of Perth -- is among the loveliest places on the continent as well.

The course enables you to gain specialized knowledge in understanding the complex physical and biological interactions within the coastal zone, to gain an ability to assess the status of the marine environment, and to be able to predict the consequences of future disturbances to this environment. The programs are built upon disciplines such as science, math and engineering, and will provide skills to apply the knowledge gained towards environmental management, with an emphasis on coastal systems.

A number of courses are offered that deal specifically with coastal management issues, oceanography and marine pollution. Students are also able to take classes in boat handling and scientific diving which will enhance the practical skills needed in the marine science field. To enhance your semester abroad, you can combine the Marine Science Program subjects with any others that are offered.
