Learn to write where Shakespeare, Chaucer and Dickens all wrote - London! The Creative Writing program at Roehampton University is aimed at both beginners and writers with some experience. The courses range from one-day sessions to semester- and year-long workshops and are attended by both professional writers, including the novelist Wendy Perriam, and students alike. This program provides you with the opportunity both to write and to study writing and it combines the development of your own creativity with the development of your critical awareness. As part of the program you will be able to study and practice various genres which may include writing for children, detective fiction, sci-fi, travel writing, poetry, script-writing and auto/biography. The atmosphere is supportive and will get the best out of your writing abilities, interests and ambitions! To enhance your semester abroad, you can combine the Creative Writing Program subjects with any others that are offered.

This program provides you with the opportunity both to write and to study writing. It combines the development of your own creativity with the development of your critical awareness. A distinctive feature of the program is the ability to offer courses in writing for children, travel writing, life writing, and practical writing. You will have the opportunity to work with qualified academics and established writers; we aim to provide a stimulating and enjoyable environment and to challenge you to achieve your potential. You will also be able to study and practice various genres which may include writing for children, detective fiction, sci-fi, travel writing, poetry, script-writing and auto/biography. You will be taught by seminars, workshops, lectures, and tutorials. Self-evaluation and critical awareness will play a significant part in the assessment of your written work; assessment will also be done by means of essays, projects and portfolios.
