Description: This program offers a unique opportunity for comparative study of women's movements in their socio-political contexts in the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, and Turkey. Students examine women's identity, history and cultural heritage, current political movements, European policy, economics, the structure and the influence of the European Union, health care, and issues of representation in government, media, and the arts. Courses include: Situated Feminisms: Socio-political Systems and Women's Lives; Issues in Feminist Methodologies; Comparative Feminist Theories; and Independent Field Research. The program consists of lectures, site visits, excursions, and extensive comparative field research on a topic of the student's choice. Meetings with local academics, activists, artists, and professionals bring students into direct contact with the individuals at the forefront of women's activism in today's Europe. The application deadline is March 30.

Highlights: The program starts every year at the rotating site of the NOISE conference, where participants join women's studies scholars, government officials, and activists from across Europe. Throughout the program, participants are exposed to and included in a developed network of feminist programs and organizations. Students live in homestays, hostels, pensions, and hotels.
