Quito Semester Program
Ecuador
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Description:
Earn 15 credits studying Spanish language (intermediate to advanced levels), Ecuadorian culture, Andean history, anthropology, art history, sociology, and Latin American literature. Students must have 4 semesters of college-level Spanish language or equivalent to participate. Discover the natural beauty of Ecuador while exploring the beaches, snow-capped mountains, and jungles. All participants live with an Ecuadorian family. This arrangement offers students the opportunity to practice their language skills daily and learn first-hand about the culture of Ecuador. Homestays also provide students with a supportive link to the host country. Meals are generally taken with the host family. Quito, the beautiful capital of Ecuador, located approximately 9000 feet above sea level in the Andean mountain range, is noted for its sophistication and fine colonial architecture. The Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) is the host institution for the College Consortium for International Studies (CCIS) program in Quito.
