Shanghai Winter Program

Term: Winter 

Description: During the one-month program in January, students take Business in Contemporary China (3 credits, taught in English) and Beginning Survival Chinese (3 credits) at Shanghai University. Students study at the Yanchang or New campus, not far from the heart of Shanghai. In addition to on-campus recreational facilities, students may also take excursions with faculty to sites such as the Yu Yuan Garden, the Jade Buddha Temple, or to a Chinese or Joint Venture enterprise. Students can also take out-of-town trips on their own to visit gardens and temples in places like Suzhou and Hangzhou. Students share heated dorm suites with private baths on the New campus or have private dorm rooms and baths on the Yanchang campus. There is also a weekend option to stay with a Chinese family.

Shanghai Winter Program

Highlights: * No Chinese language prerequisite
* Courses taught in English by Chinese faculty
* 2.5 GPA requirement
* Freshmen through Seniors can participate
* Earn college credit toward graduation
* Grants and scholarships are available and financial aid applies
* Full service programs including orientations, arranged housing, and field trips
* Experiential programs designed to put students in touch with the local culture
