KIIS Turkey Program
Turkey
Term: Summer
Description:
The KIIS program in Turkey offers students an opportunity to experience the history of one of the world's most ancient, yet most progressive, countries. Turkey is rich with historical sites and is a vibrant nation with an open and receptive culture, as well as one of the world's greatest cuisines.
Highlights:
The main program site is a Turkish university located in a suburb of Istanbul. Istanbul is Turkey's largest city and the former capital of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires. While first impressions of Middle Eastern cultures can sometimes be confusing and disorienting, this university provides a safe and comfortable base for students to engage in exploration of a fascinating culture. The courses each include three hours of daily classroom instruction, Monday through Wednesday, spread over four weeks. In addition to formal lectures, students make excursions to museums, mosques, palaces, churches, and other cultural sites in and around Istanbul as part of their learning experience during the program.
