Description:
Edith Cowan University is noted for its vigorous and innovative course content, specialised research and creative pursuits. Named in honour of Edith Dircksey Cowan, the first woman elected to an Australian Parliament in 1912, Edith Cowan University is a responsive and forward thinking institution where students can choose from 290 courses. ECU is committed to providing a high level of student support through a unique Student Charter, and ECU's International Student Centre offers all international students a comprehensive orientation prior to each semester. Services and facilities in Perth are world class and its people, industries and institutions are dynamic and global in outlook. A recent National survey conducted by News Poll found that overall Perth was the best city in Australia on almost all indicators including facilities, lifestyle, living standards and cost of living. Perth is well known as friendly, safe and relaxed, yet offers all the cosmopolitan attractions of a large international city. The city boasts thousands of restaurants and cafes, cinemas, nightclubs, and music venues as well as great shopping! The warm sunny climate is also perfect for sporting and leisure activities everything from tennis to golf through to whale watching and sailing, or just relaxing on our beautiful beaches.
Highlights:
With nine months of fine weather every year, West Australians love to participate in outdoor pursuits such as camping, hiking and team sports. Perth residents enjoy many water sports including surfing, sailing, sailboarding, water-skiing and scuba diving and the nearby port city of Fremantle is loved for its beaches, relaxed markets, cafes and harbor-side restaurants. ECU runs a Recreate program which is a fantastic way to meet other students, make great friends and get involved in the Uni way of life, both international and Australian. It is also an excellent opportunity to experience all the special features that Perth has to offer. Some of the Recreate activities include water sports, health and fitness, bushwalks, and Didgeridoo playing. Edith Cowan University's School of Indigenous Australian Studies, Korongkurl Katitjin offers students an experience of Australian Indigenous culture and the way of life through a combination of formal studies and field trips. The field trip component will allow students opportunities to select from the following activities: - attend love music, dance, and theatre performances - visit Indigenous schools - hear traditional stories being told - sample some Indigenous foods
