Study in Florence with ASA!

  Italy
  • Florence:
  • Florence

Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring, Summer, Throughout the year
Dates: Semester/Summer/Academic Year

Description: ASA is pleased to offer students the opportunity to study at the Institute at Palazzo Rucellai, a study abroad center committed to providing quality international educational opportunities for students from North American colleges and universities. In support of this mission, the Institute offers a study abroad program firmly rooted in the American liberal arts and tradition.

The Institute is located in the historic Palazzo Rucellai, designed in the fifteenth century by Leon Battista Alberti, Renaissance humanist and architect. Participants take courses in a variety of disciplines while immersed in the artistic and architectural riches of a unique urban complex.

Highlights: Florence is everything you would expect an Italian city to be. It is one of Italy's most atmospheric, distinctive, impressive and pleasant cities to experience. Situated in the heart of Tuscany, it has breathtaking art, mouth-watering food and a history so deep and old that it boggles the mind. Thanks to the fact that it is located almost in the center of the Italian peninsula with main rail lines running in all directions, travel within Italy and abroad is quite easy. Even a quick trip to Chianti, located between Florence and Siena, will fill your camera with shots of one of Italy's most beautiful countryside. The enchanting symbol of the Renaissance has it all. Want art' Well, Michaelangelo's David and works by Botticelli, Benvenuto, Cellini and Donatello are all easily viewed, as is the vast painting collection at the Uffizi and the sculptures of the Bargello. If architecture is more your thing, the 13th century cathedral, the Santa Maria del Fiore (known as the Duomo), is steps away from our classrooms. Not all of the art in Florence can be found hanging in museums. The food in Florence is sometimes revered with the same intensity as its art, as Florentines are proud of their hearty fare. After stuffing yourself on some of the freshest foods in the world, indulge in gelato, the Italian version of ice cream. Florence remains quite the same it was 500 years ago, so take a step back in time and experience all of the riches that Florence has to offer.
