Lexia in Chiang Mai
Thailand
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Description:
Lexia's academically challenging Semester and Academic Year Programs consist of four courses each semester: 1) Intensive Language (at beginning through advanced levels in Thai); 2) a Civilization Seminar on the host country, including excursions; 3) a Research Methods Seminar; and 4) an individualized Field Research Project (FRP). The FRP is an opportunity to design an independent study project which focuses directly on a subject area within a student's academic major or minor.
Highlights:
Hosted at Payap University in Chiang Mai, Lexia offers an in-depth academic opportunity to study Chiang Mai, Thailand, its history, arts, politics and culture, through a progressive curriculum of language, cultural and field study which blends theory and practice with classroom and field-based learning. Our programs clearly articulate how to actively engage another culture. Through the Field Research Project, Lexia can accommodate almost any major or field of interest at all overseas sites. With the exception of language classes, the primary language of instruction is English. Unpaid internships and volunteer work are offered as a supplement to the academic program.
