Italy
Term: Academic Year, Fall, Spring
Dates: August - May (Academic Year), August - November (Fall Semester), January - May (Spring Semester)
Description:
The compact city center puts the history, art and architecture of the Renaissance right at your doorstep. Be a part of the community, not just a tourist, living in your own Florentine apartment or in an Italian home and enjoying restaurants and cafes throughout the city with your AIFS meal vouchers. Experience the culinary side of Italian culture with wine tasting and cooking classes. Explore Italy's artistic heritage with visits to museums, art galleries and monuments. AIFS students take courses taught in English in art history, economics, history, literature, marketing, music, photography, political science, studio art and internships. All students take Italian language classes, which are offered at all levels. Internships and independent study can be arranged. Transfer of credits is through the sponsoring institution, Richmond, The American International University in London, a U.S.-accredited university. Richmond's study center is a restored 16th-century palace close to the Ponte Vecchio. It has classrooms, a student lounge and reading room, and computer labs. AIFS fees include the basics and the extras: tuition, housing, some meals, London visit, excursions and cultural activities, airfare if selected, trips to Venice and Rome, and more.
Highlights:
AIFS in Florence offers something for everyone. A three-week orientation/intensive language preparation in Viareggio fall semester and Siena spring semester gives students a jumpstart into the Italian culture. Italian families welcome students into their homes to live for their time abroad, or students may opt to live in apartments.
