Paris is one of the best-known cities in the world and is home to countless historical monuments and museums. Enjoy cafes and restaurants throughout the city with your AIFS meal allowance. Experience the culinary side of French culture with wine tasting and cooking classes. Explore France's artistic and architectural heritage with visits to world-class museums like the Louvre, d'Orsay and Pompidou Centre, and monuments like the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame. AIFS students attend courses at the Cours de Civilisation Francaise de la Sorbonne as well as other institutions. Courses are taught in both French and English in art history, business, history, literature, philosophy, political science, and sociology, plus French language. AIFS fees include the basics and the extras: tuition, housing in a Parisian homestay, optional meal plans, cultural activities, 2-week orientation in Cannes, optional visits to Normandy and the Loire Valley, round trip airfare if selected, services of an on-site Resident Director, and more.
Highlights:
AIFS in Paris has something for everyone. At the university, popular courses include topics on French history, architecture and fashion. Cultural activities include sightseeing in Paris; a bateaux mouches ride on the Seine; day trips to Chartres, Giverny, Fontainebleau, Vaux-le-Vicomte, Reims and Épernay; visits to the Musée Rodin and Musée Picasso; and concert, theater and ballet performances. Students will be offered the chance to participate in a Da Vinci Code walking tour around Central Paris to discover some of the monuments and districts described in Dan Brown's bestselling book. Optional classes in French Cuisine and Wine Appreciation are also offered. The semester begins with a 3-day London stopover and a 2-week orientation in Cannes. During the semester, students can participate in optional visits to Normandy and the Chateaux of the Loire Valley.
