Murdoch University, named after Sir Walter Murdoch, a prominent Australian academic and essayist, is proud of its reputation as an outstanding teaching and research university in Perth. The University was recently rated as a top teaching university in Australia in the Prime Minister's National Teaching Awards. It is also the only university in Australia to receive a five star rating for "Graduate Satisfaction" for five consecutive years in The Good Universities Guide. Perth is also renowned as being an "ideal" place to study abroad due to its fantastic climate, its lovely beaches, and its friendly, welcoming, vibrant atmosphere. Murdoch University offers you the chance to get to know Australian students by becoming engaged with the active Student Guild which offers numerous clubs and societies. Highlights:
If you have always dreamed of visiting Australia, now is the time to go. Australia offers a wealth of experiences including the adventure of the outback, the spectacular Great Barrier Reef, the glow of Ayers Rock Uluru, and cosmopolitan Sydney. While roos or crocs are a rare sight, you will definitely find Australia to be one of the most welcoming cultures in the world. Perth is home to about 1.3 million people. It's nestled on the banks of the Swan River and is a perfect location for study abroad students. Many students say Perth is one of the best aspects of studying at Murdoch University -the people are friendly, the city is safe and clean, it has over 30 miles of white sandy beaches and more hours of sunshine than any other Australian city! The people of Perth enjoy a largely outdoor lifestyle due to the fact that the climate is one of the best in the world. Because the summers are long and hot, the locals spend much time at one of the many beaches in the metropolitan area. On weekends, they also flock to Fremantle (nicknamed Freo), a thriving historical city close to the Murdoch University campus. Fremantle is well known for its vibrant cappuccino strip, with outdoor cafes, restaurants, pubs, museums, art galleries and flea markets. Murdoch is a moderate-sized university with a vibrant campus life. Set on a beautifully landscaped campus, the University is located approximately 20 minutes by car from Perth's city centre. Murdoch International provides an extensive range of services to study abroad students. Because 13% of the student population is international students, Murdoch has dedicated three staff members to the Study Abroad program and three International Student Liaison Officers to assist you with your experience abroad.
